When most people think government contracting, they think defense spending and road work projects.  However, Federal, State and Local Government spends billions within the community everyday handling issues as small as installing tv brackets in buildings to roofing projects. If you are thinking about trying to do business with the Government below is a short outline of the steps involved.

How to get a contract with the Government

  1. Establish a legal entity and register your FEIN (Federal Tax ID)
  2. Obtain a Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNS) for your business.
  3. Determine your North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. These codes classify businesses by the services they provide or the products they sell.
  4. Meet Size Standards
  5. Register to Do Business with the Government on SAM, System for Award Management.
  6. Register with SBA for set aside certifications.
